Suns Head Coach Search: Latest News, Rumors, Speculation on Vacant Position

Despite firing two assistants in December, the Phoenix Suns plan on hiring an interim head coach to replace the deposed Jeff Hornacek from within the organization.

Suns to Quickly Name Interim Coach Monday, Feb. 1 Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported management will conduct interviews with assistant coaches Monday. No favorite has been identified at this time, but the Suns announced they "plan to have an interim head coach in place by Tuesday."

Because of the depleted nature of their coaching staff, the Suns won't have all that many options. They jettisoned Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting, two well-respected names in league circles, earlier this season in a turnaround attempt. The Cleveland Cavaliers already hired Longabardi to their assistant staff under new head coach Tyronn Lue, and Sichting's two decades of experience should land him a job before too long.
