Stephon Marbury to Play Himself in Chinese Biographical Movie

Former NBA point guard Stephon Marbury has become a massive star in China since moving to the Chinese Basketball Association in 2010, and he's parlaying his celebrity into a starring film role.

According to The Wrap's Beatrice Verhoeven, Marbury will play himself in a biopic titled My Other Home. Allen Iverson and Baron Davis will also be involved in the film.   

Marbury spent 13 years with five teams in the NBA. During his run in the league, he made two All-Star Games and was twice named to the All-NBA Third Team. His work in China, however, has arguably surpassed what he did in the United States.

The 39-year-old has helped lead the Beijing Ducks to three CBA titles (2012, 2014 and 2015). Not only does Marbury have a statue in his likeness in Beijing, but he has also been honored with a musical about his life, his own museum and a Chinese green card, per Kiki Zhao of the New York Times.

The Wall Street Journal's Lilian Lin reported Marbury took acting courses in Los Angeles and New York City for two months in order to prepare for his role in My Other Home.
