Smoke and Mirrors: No Magic for Orlando in Eastern Conference Finals

The Orlando Magic came into Game Three of the Eastern Conference Finals down 0-2 to the Boston Celtics. Orlando needed to make a statement Saturday night if they hoped to have any chance at all of advancing in the playoffs. They made a statement—loud and clear. “We quit. You win!”

From the opening whistle, the Magic were dominated in every single facet of the game. They were overwhelmed and overmatched. What’s more, they looked resigned to their fate. The Magic showed no urgency…no resistance…no fight.

Let’s take a more in-depth look.

Coaching:

Whatever game plan the Magic had coming into Game Three, it wasn’t a good one. They looked completely disjointed offensively and had no answer for Rajon Rondo…or Glen Davis…or anyone else wearing white and green. Did Stan Van Gundy make any adjustments at half-time? If he did, it sure didn't help much.
