Sixers’ Joel Embiid Jokes He Learned to Shoot by Watching ‘Regular White People’

Joel Embiid is just hours away from making his much-anticipated debut nearly two-and-a-half years after being drafted No. 3 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. As he prepares to take the court for the first time, Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins provided the world with an in-depth look at the big man.

Not only did the 22-year-old Embiid make it clear that he views himself as "The Process," but the Cameroon native also gave a tongue-in-cheek explanation for how he picked up certain parts of the game of basketball.

"You know how I learned to shoot?" Embiid said, per Jenkins. "I watched white people. Just regular white people. They really put their elbow in and finish up top. You can find videos of them online."

Anyone who has scrolled through Embiid's Twitter timeline knows he likes to goof around. The majority of what he says should be taken in good fun—because that's just who he is. And that's why Sixers fans love him, even before he has played a game for the team.
