Shawn Marion Injury: Updates on Mavericks Forward’s Shoulder and Return

Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion exited in the third quarter of Tuesday, Jan. 7's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at American Airlines Center with a right shoulder contusion.

Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding reported the news and stated that Marion would not return:



Dwain Price of the star-telegram.com provided an update on Marion's status after the game:

Although Marion is 35 years of age, he is still having a respectable 2013-14 campaign for the Mavs and had eight points, seven rebounds and an assist before leaving the floor.

The athletic, versatile standout is averaging 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals per contest this season as Dallas entered this game with a 19-15 record—eighth place in the Western Conference.

Marion had been battling through an ankle injury and sat out practice on Monday, Jan. 6, per ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. The good news is he was playing better versus the Lakers than he had in making only one of six shots in the previous game.
