Shaquille O’Neal To The Boston Celtics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

After writing about Shaq being in a minor dilemma , the Diesel has finally found a new tank to fill up.

According to ESPN, the Boston Celtics have agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million deal with center Shaquille O'Neal.

Celtics fans are loving it, other Eastern Conference team fans are hating it, and general NBA fans seem to have a mixed opinion. So let's break down the good, the bad, and the ugly with this move.

 

The Good

With Kendrick Perkins out until 2011, the Celtics were in desperate need of a dominant defensive center that could fill in the shoes of big ol' Perk.

The Celtics managed to sign Jermaine O'Neal to the mid-level exception, but apparently that wasn't enough for Boston.

O'Neal can defend Dwight Howard and create a mismatch on the offensive end of the court against the Miami Heat. Bringing in Shaq also provides the Celtics with much needed rebounding (ranked 29th out of 30 in RPG last season).

Shaq can clog up the paint on the defensive end of the floor, ultimately preventing opponents from getting to the rim.
