What happened to Sean May?

Sean May, who once was a great player and three-year starter at North Carolina, signed a one-year, minimum contract with the Nets. But what happened to May?

Sean was a member of the 2005 National Championship team, he also the Most Outstanding Player, scoring 24 points, 10-of-11 shooting, and had 10 rebounds. Then he decided to go to the NBA and declared for the 2005 Draft, skipping his senior year.

He was taken at the 13th pick by the Charlotte Bobcats. May was one of four UNC players selected in the lottery. He played in the Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League and was the MVP. But his rookie season was cut short by a season-ending knee injury.

His 2006-2007 season was his best by far. He played in 35 games and averaged 11.9 points a game, and 6.7 rebounds. Then he missed the entire 2007-2008 season due to microfracture surgery on his right knee.

The next season, effects of the surgery set in and May started experiencing tiredness and tendinitis. Then-coach Larry Brown placed him on the disabled list, saying he was too out of shape to play.
