San Antonio Spurs’ Time To Manu-Up: The Value of Ginobili To the Team

The best player on the best team in the league demonstrated his irreplaceable value for the Spurs in their Friday night win 106-96 against Deron Williams and the New Jersey Nets.

Ginobili went 8 for 16 last night scoring a team high 26 points in helping the Spurs achieve their 20th straight victory at home this year and are now 27-2 at the AT&T Center this year, with their last loss in November against their interstate rivals, the Dallas Mavericks. 

Value is hard to measure.

But if there is one consistent way to judge the value of a player, it would be winning.  

Simply put, Manu Ginobili is a winner.  

Ginobili is the only player in basketball history to win the Euroleague, an Olympic gold medal, and an NBA Championship.

Not only has he won 3 NBA Championships with the Spurs, 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2006-07, but he has done so in many different ways.  Manu has filled every role the Spurs have asked of him.  He has been asked to be 6th man, to be the defensive stopper, and to be the closer for the Spurs at the end of games.  To his credit, he has fulfilled these roles quite w ...
