Rudy Gobert, Jazz Agree on New Contract: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

The Utah Jazz continued to solidify their young core Monday, as they announced the signing of center Rudy Gobert to a four-year, $102 million extension.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical first reported the terms of the deal. According to Wojnarowski, $90 million of the contract is guaranteed, and there are $3 million in annual bonus incentives worked into the deal.

Gobert took to Instagram to comment on the news:



Gobert, 24, was the sixth player drafted in 2013 to sign a long-term extension, according to Marc Stein of ESPN. C.J. McCollum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Dennis Schroder, Steven Adams and Victor Oladipo also signed max or near-max deals. If a player from that draft class doesn't sign an extension by Monday, they will enter restricted free agency next summer.

Gobert averaged 9.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in 2015-16. In his first season as a full-time starter, Gobert played 61 games and was Utah's defensive fulcrum.
