Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay left their Dec. 17 contest against the Charlotte Bobcats in the third quarter and will not return with what the team is characterizing as stiffness in his left knee.

It's not clear when Gay sustained the injury. He exited after taking a foul from Bobcats forward Cody Zeller at the 5:22 mark in the third quarter, but did not appear to be in serious pain. Derrick Williams replaced Gay in the lineup, and the team soon announced that he was dealing with pain in his left knee.
After the game Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee provided an update on how Gay was feeling:
Gay said he didn't think his knee stiffness was serious. He'll get treatment and hopes to be available tomorrow in Atlanta.
