Report: DeShawn Stevenson Re-Signs With Mavericks With $4.15M Sallary

Shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson will exercise his player option.

This means he will stay with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2010-11 NBA season; his agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed today.

Stevenson is scheduled to make $4.15M next season.

A salary like that may actually be hard to find if he opted out of his contract to go for free agency this off-season.

So he made a smart move, right? Of course.

But what may effect him probably will be Dirk Nowitzki opting out of his contract.

Nobody knows for sure yet if he will be leaving the Mavs, or working out a new contract with the team.

Stevenson was part of the trade during All-Star break, where the Washington Wizards gave up Stevenson, Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood for small forward, Josh Howard.

Stevenson wasn't much of a contributor to the Mavs this season, playing only 24 games for them and only being part in a total of six minutes during the team's playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs.

Being drafted out of high school, Stevenson's 2.1 points per game last season was his worst total since his rookie year with the Utah ...
