Raymond Felton Injury: Updates on Mavericks PG’s Ankle and Return

There is never a good time for injuries, but they are especially difficult to deal with during the preseason since the games do not even count toward the standings.

The Dallas Mavericks and Raymond Felton found that out the hard way Friday, as Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com and Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com noted:

MacMahon reported the results of Felton's X-rays:

The injury occurred in the first quarter of the Mavericks' preseason contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was just a freak type of accident, but Dallas signed Felton in the offseason and is clearly hoping he can contribute as part of the point guard rotation.

Felton averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 assists last season for the New York Knicks, but he only played in 65 games. In fact, Felton has not played in 80 games in a single season since 2009-10 when he was a member of the Charlotte Hornets (then the Bobcats), so durability could be a concern this season.

It certainly was Friday night.
