Rajon Rondo Suspended 1 Game for Remark Toward Official: Details, Reaction

Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended for one game without pay by the NBA for his comments toward an official in a Dec. 3 game against the Boston Celtics in Mexico City. 

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports tweeted out the NBA's official statement on Rondo's suspension:



With the Celtics up by 20 in the third quarter, he was called for two quick technical fouls for arguing with the official then proceeding to stare him down. He was subsequently ejected:



Rondo is having a stellar bounce-back season for the Kings so far. He's averaging 12.6 points per game and shooting 45.3 percent from the floor. More importantly, being a point guard, Rondo is leading the NBA with 11 assists per game.

Controversy is nothing new for Rondo, who has had numerous encounters with referees throughout his career, including one instance during the 2012 playoffs with the Celtics when he chest-bumped referee Rodney Mott.
