Portland Trail Blazers’ Owner Paul Allen Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

It was announced yesterday that Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In a memo to the employees at Vulcan, Allen's sister had this to say about the situation:

Paul is feeling OK and remains upbeat, he continues to work and he has no plans to change his role at Vulcan. His health comes first, though, and we'll be sure that nothing intrudes on that.

Allen has dealt with cancer before. In 1983 he beat cancer and he will do it again. It's a sad thing to hear this news and we wish him all the best as he takes on this monumental health challenge.

The news really makes you reflect on how much Allen means to this organization and the city of Portland. Since buying the team in 1988, he's been nothing but the best owner in all of sports. He's perfect for the city and has always done everything he can to make the Trail Blazers successful. He's also been one of the Blazers biggest fans.

Once again, our thoughts are with Paul Allen and his family as he takes on cancer for the second time.
