Philadelphia 76ers Set NBA Record with 1-29 Start

There is a new record for futility in the NBA, courtesy of the Philadelphia 76ers. On Tuesday night, the now 1-29 Eastern Conference bottom-dwellers dropped a 104-90 decision at home to the Memphis Grizzlies. 

They are the first team in NBA history to lose 29 of their first 30 games, as the NBA on ESPN noted shortly after the game:  



Five Grizzlies scored in double digits, as the 76ers committed 26 turnovers. It isn't the first time they've been this careless with the ball this season, as Yahoo Sports' Dan Devine pointed out:



Philadelphia's lone win of the season came in its 19th game, a 103-91 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. 

Yahoo Sports' Michael Lee calculated just how bad this season could get for the Sixers:



This isn't the first time the 76ers have had a horrid start. In 2014-15, Philadelphia opened the season 0-17 on its way to only 18 wins.
