Paul Pierce, Dirk Nowitzki Agree to Contracts: Team Outlooks

Two key agreements occurred today. No, not LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but Paul Pierce and Dirk Nowitzki reportedly agreed to contracts with the Celtics and Mavericks, respectively. Now here are a few things that Boston and Dallas have to do now that these agreements are settled. Both will return as key pieces to the success of their teams, but both the Mavericks and Celtics are missing other key pieces. The Mavericks need a young, athletic point guard to take some of the pressure off Dirk while the Celtics need youth...well...just to get a little bit younger.  Sorry Celtics fans, but Pierce, Garnett, and Ray Allen—assuming he comes back—will not be able to carry Boston to elite status much longer. My suggestion for Boston would be Jordan Farmar who, despite his 6'2'' 180 pound frame, will be able to give Allen much needed rest by playing a good 20 minutes and getting about 10-15 points a game, in my opinion.

The Celtics would also not have to spend maximum money to grab him either, as his 2009-2010 salary was only $1.9 million. But there is one problem with this situation: Farmar himself. It is well documented that Jordan wants to be a starter but he ...
