Orlando Magic to Dedicate Opening Night to Victims of Pulse Nightclub Shooting

The Orlando Magic announced Tuesday they will dedicate their season-opening game against the Miami Heat on Oct. 26 to the 49 people who were killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting in June.

Ananth Pandian of CBSSports.com passed along a statement from the organization:



Ralph Ellis, Ashley Fantz, Faith Karimi and Eliott C. McLaughlin of CNN reported the shooting at the gay nightclub by a gunman who pledged his allegiance to ISIS was the deadliest mass shooting in the United States.

Magic center Nikola Vucevic was among those who expressed their condolences after the attack:



Alicia DelGallo of the Orlando Sentinel reported former Magic superstar Shaquille O'Neal and other athletes visited victims in the hospital following the shooting.

The DeVos family, which owns the Magic, donated $400,000 to the OneOrlando Fund, for victims of the shooting and their families, and the Magic donated an additional $100,000, per Kate Santich, Susan Jacobson and Kyle Arnold of the Orlando Sentinel.
