A hectic few days off the floor—and a bad couple of weeks on it—culminated in two megadeals on Saturday for the Orlando Magic.

Mired in a stretch of five losses in six games heading into Saturday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, multiple sources confirmed reports that Orlando has pulled off a trade with the Phoenix Suns to acquire ex-Magic swingman Hedo Turkoglu and shooting guard Jason Richardson (plus little-used big man Earl Clark) in exchange for Vince Carter, center Marcin Gortat, small forward Mickael Pietrus, a first-round pick in 2011 and $3 million.

Up next: A deal that will bring Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas to central Florida for struggling forward Rashard Lewis.

The two deals amount to an enormous shakeup for a team that has been among the best in the league over the past two seasons but remained relatively quiet in the offseason, even as the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat put together impressive summers that upped the stakes in the Eastern Conference.
