New Orleans Pelicans center Omer Asik suffered a right ankle sprain against the Detroit Pistons, and it is uncertain when he will be able to return to action.

Asik a Stabilizing Force for Pelicans Despite Lackluster Production Although Asik doesn't put up big numbers while playing limited minutes alongside the often dominant Anthony Davis, he's still a notable piece of the Pelicans' rotation. He takes some pressure off the face of the franchise with reliable play in the paint when called upon.

He's battled various minor injuries in recent years. More notably, he missed an extended stretch during the 2013-14 campaign due to a lingering knee problem. He missed the start of the current season due to a calf issue suffered during training camp.
