Thunder 103, 76ers 97—Final
Russell Westbrook poured in 32 points to guide the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2016-17 season opener for both teams.
Although Philadelphia (0-1) led for most of the night, Westbrook and Enes Kanter fueled a game-ending 16-6 run for Oklahoma City (1-0). The duo accounted for 13 of the final 16 points.
Andre Roberson had a single point, but his one block helped seal the Thunder victory. Despite having 17 seconds to spare, Gerald Henderson forced an off-balance shot Roberson easily swatted.
The poor finish overshadowed a superb debut from 76ers rookie Joel Embiid, the No. 3 overall selection of the 2014 NBA draft. He amassed 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
