Nuggets vs. Nets: Nets Defeat Carmelo Anthony, Nuggets Soundly

Carmelo Anthony scored 37 points in Newark tonight. However, it was still as a member of the Denver Nuggets.

Twelve days after New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov called off Carmelo trade talks, the Nets pounded the Nuggets, 115-99, at “The Rock.” After losing two straight games, this was a big win for the Nets, who continue their streak of playing well at home.

New Jersey moved over the .500 mark (12-11) at home with tonight’s victory. Denver has now given up 100 or more points in 15 straight road games.

Former Net Kenyon Martin came out with the hot hand early and scored the first five points of the game. He had the night off Sunday in Philadelphia so appeared well rested after recently returning from an injury.

The Nets responded big time and went on a 15-0 run. Travis Outlaw was unconscious from the outside, scoring eight of the 15 points.

Anthony quieted the crowd quickly with five straight points as part of a 9-0 run for Denver, but the Nets picked up their offense to take a 10-point lead after one.
