Nikola Vucevic Injury: Updates on Magic Center’s Ankle and Return

Nikola Vucevic spent last year's New Year's Eve pulling down 29 rebounds against the Miami Heat. He'll spend this one on the bench with a sprained left ankle.   

The Orlando Magic big man suffered the injury after just nine minutes against the Golden State Warriors and won't return, according to the team's official Twitter feed:

Magic center Nikola Vucevic suffered a sprained left ankle during the first quarter tonight vs GSW and will not return. #WeWill #LetsGoMagic

— Orlando Magic (@Orlando_Magic) December 31, 2013 We won't know official details about the severity of the injury until after the game, but if it was enough to rule him out in the first quarter, it's safe to assume that he's questionable at best for Thursday's tilt at Cleveland. 

This is an rough blow for the Magic, who came in winning two in a row. 

One of the more underrated big men in the league, the third-year Vucevic entered Tuesday's game averaging 13.8 points on a career-high 52.0 percent shooting to go with 11.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest.
