New York State Of Mind: Amar’e Stoudemire and New York Knicks Agree On Max Deal

(New York, NY) —It has just been announced that former Phoenix Suns star Amar'e Stoudemire has agreed on a max level contract with the New York Knicks.

The deal has been reported at five-years and an estimated $100 million.

Amar'e is the first big name free agent to sign with a new team and could signal the decisions for players like LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.

The Knicks have made official pitches to James as well as Wade.

Stoudemire has averaged 21.4 ppg and 8.9 reb for his career and has played the first nine seasons of his career with the Suns. New York will not be a huge transition as Stoudemire is familiar with Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, whom coaches the Suns in 2002 and 2003.

Amare (6'10') is a bit of a size upgrade for the Knicks as center David Lee (6'9') is also testing the free agent market. Amare is more known as a better off the ball defender over Lee and could flourish in D'Antoni's fast paced system.
