The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 99-85 at the TD Garden Thursday to improve to 5-1 on the preseason. 

The Knicks frontcourt failed to be effective against a well-balanced Celtics team. Thursday was the final preseason game for the Knicks, who finished with a 4-2 record. 

Key players Thursday included Knicks power forward Derrick Williams, who scored 14 points, and point guard Jose Calderon, who led the team with 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

With their starters having a rough night, the Knicks relied on their bench a ton in this one. Arron Afflalo continued to hone his jump shot, shooting 4-for-6 from the field, good for ten points in 19:02 minutes played.

Just like in their 111-105 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, the Celtics' youngsters really shined in this one. Jared Sullinger, Marcus Smart and Tyler Zeller all played well.

Sullinger led the Celtics with 16 points, and Zeller notched 15. Jae Crowder also impressed with his ability to guard Carmelo Anthony, while scoring 13 points himself.
