New Orleans Hornets vs. Boston Celtics: Post-Game Reaction and Grades

December 31st, 2010 by Chris Hawkins Leave a reply »
Recap: Chris Paul had 20 points, David West had 19 as the New Orleans Hornets handed the Boston Celtics their second home loss of the season. At the start of the fourth quarter, it appeared as if the Celtics' defensive prowess would stifle any chances of a Hornets' victory, as they began the quarter on a 16-0 run. But, with gritty defense, the Hornets held the Celtics to just eight points, and the Hornets escaped with a 83-81 victory.

What I liked: Boston struggles taking care of the basketball even when Rondo is in the game. The Hornets did an excellent job of forcing turnovers. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets appeared on their way to a fourth quarter collapse. Whatever Monty Williams said to them appeared to have worked; they picked up the defense and made better decisions with the basketball.

What I did not like: The Hornets bench scored a grand total of seven points. Their play has to improve; Paul and West played 40-plus minutes this afternoon.

Chris Paul: Paul was everywhere today, and he set the tone in the first quarter. Did an excellent job of forcing turnovers.

Grade:A+
