As the Brooklyn Nets open their search for a permanent head coach after firing Lionel Hollins, they will likely need to cast a wide net to get the right person for the job.

Nets Interested in Thibodeau Wednesday, Jan. 13 Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News reported the Nets have "reached out" to former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau about their vacancy. 

What's Next Step For Nets After Firing Hollins, King? The Nets took their first steps toward rebuilding Sunday by parting ways with Hollins and reassigning general manager Billy King. 

Hollins was put in a no-win situation, guiding an aging, overpaid roster to a 10-27 start before he was removed. He did win 38 games with the Nets last season, but it marked the second consecutive year their victory total dropped after peaking with 49 in 2012-13. 

Since Mikhail Prokhorov bought the Nets in 2010, he has spent money as quickly as possible with the hopes of making the franchise into a dynasty. His plans never materialized, despite three straight playoff appearances.
