NBA’s Greatest Debates, Part 1: Bill Russell vs. Wilt Chamberlain

The Greatest Rivalry in the history of the NBA, Bill Russell against Wilt Chamberlain is perhaps a debate that may never end.

Both are arguably the greatest of all time.

That is an excellent legacy.

"They just don't make 'em like Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell anymore," said Sports Illustrated.

They marked the 60's with their games against each other and both achieved what they set out for. Russell won almost everything (11 rings), and Wilt had excellent stats and set more records than anyone.

Before we compare them, let's look at their player profiles.

Bill Russell

The biggest champion, best defensive player, shot blocker, and leader with some of the greatest winners and complete centers, Russell was also a superb clutch performer who got the best of anyone.

He was listed at between 6'9"-6'11" but was a fantastic player with an amazing skill set, incredible IQ, and he played mind games with his opponents.

Russell changed the game with his defensive domination, made his opponents think twice when attacking the rim, and knew how to stop everybody because he knew the games ...
