NBA Trades: Grading the Hawks’ Kirk Hinrich, Wizards’ Mike Bibby Deadline Deal

Atlanta Hawks Get:

PG Kirk Hinrich and C/PF Hilton Armstrong

Washington Wizards Get: 

PG Mike Bibby, G Jordan Crawford, SF Maurice Evans and a 2011 First round Pick

 

Atlanta's Grade: D+

The Hawks adding Hinrich made complete sense. It gives them a seven-year veteran who's known to be a hard-noised defender who rarely turns the ball over. This season the Hawks have had a severe drought at the point. 

Mike Bibby isn't the same Mike Bibby he was 10-years ago—leading the Kings to the Western Conference Finals.

Jeff Teague has built a small resume in the NBA—logging only 11 minutes per game—and most likely won't be leading the Hawks anywhere.

Hinrich could get the backcourt into a more fluid motion in the second half of the season.

However, I still have to give the Hawks a D+ grade.  

The acquisition of Hilton Armstrong makes little sense. He's a four-year veteran who is 6'11" and looks like a twig ready to snap-in half. He's never averaged more than 2.5 rebounds and can't score worth a lick, averaging 3.2 career point ...
