NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat Must Acquire Marcus Camby

NBA title or no title, the Miami Heat could use a long, tall, floor-burning shot-blocker like Marcus Camby to bolster their operation.

The question is, what's the best way for the Heat to get such a deal done?

In a perfect world (for the Heat, anyway), the Camby Man would come to South Beach and be so taken aback by the beautiful scenery, the sweet talk of Pat Riley and the glow of the Larry O'Brien Trophy that he'd sign for the veteran's minimum of approximately $1.35 million.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, that isn't likely to be the case. Camby is reportedly seeking a multi-year deal worth around $3 million per season. The Heat can't offer Camby that sort of money, not after fitting in Ray Allen with an exception of just that size.



That is, unless Riles gets crafty again, perhaps by engaging the Houston Rockets in a sign-and-trade for Camby. Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports that the two teams have discussed possible packages involving (among other pieces) Norris Cole, Joel Anthony and draft picks.
