NBA: San Antonio Spurs Unexpectedly Beat Miami Heat In Preseason Matchup

After a very close game and a three-point loss to Houston Rockets, the inevitable crushing was expected when the San Antonio Spurs were set to face Miami Heat on Saturday.  However, the unexpected happened—the Spurs held their own against the Heat with a 90-73 win.  

How did this happen when everyone assumed the three-person dynasty of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh would dominate the NBA this season?  

A few key components were definitely on the Spurs side.



DeJuan Blair

Although he managed to receive three personal fouls, he led the team in most points, with a total of 13 points. In addition, he led the Spurs with the most rebounds—totalling seven by the end of the game.  

His preseason points per game (ppg) average of 12.5 is nearly double his ppg average of his career season from last year, which was only 7.8 ppg. Blair has much to improve if he wants as much recognition as other players on the team, but their is no doubt he’s already on his way to receiving it.
