Eager to change their fortunes for the future, the Phoenix Suns are reportedly making an aggressive push for New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns have engaged the Knicks with a package that includes three-point marksman Jared Dudley and possibly even a future first-round pick.

The high-energy, high-flying guard from Georgia Tech has started all 11 of his games for the Knicks after returning from tearing an ACL late in the 2011-12 season. New York is 8-3 since his return, and Shumpert is averaging 5.6 points per game.

According to Wojnarowski's report, the Suns are very serious about correcting what they feel was a mistake after not taking Shumpert themselves in the 2011 NBA draft:

After regretting they passed on Shumpert in the 2011 NBA draft, the Suns pushed the Knicks to include him in sign-and-trade scenarios discussed for Steve Nash in July. In the past week, the Suns have scouted Shumpert in person, sources said.
