NBA Rumors: New Jersey Nets Apply For New Name Under New Owner

Not only are the New Jersey Nets changing location, but it appears that they will now also change their name.  Reported first by the New York Daily News, it has been confirmed that the organization has officially applied for a name change.

The new name would not come into effect until 2012 when the team moves to its new home in Brooklyn, New York.

Some of the choices?  Nothing's official, yet.

But host of ESPN's show Around the Horn, Tony Reali, suggested a clever name that has everyone laughing: The Brooklyn Deckers.

Pretty good, you have to admit.

And if you don't get it, enter "Brooklyn Decker" into your search bar.  You won't be disappointed.

Although some New Jersey fans may feel nostalgic about abandoning the old name, perhaps this is a good thing for the franchise and its fans.

A fresh start all the way around.

New owner, new players, new arena, and new name.  

By no means am I suggesting that everyone should forget the Nets entirely, but this is certainly a refreshing and much needed move.
