Time to finish up your roster tweaking, NBA teams.
The 5 p.m. ET Monday deadline for squads to finalize their 15-man rosters before the start of the regular season Tuesday has made this an active time in the league. The names involved in rumors at this point aren't exactly the NBA's marquee guys, but teams are still having to make a lot of tough decisions. In said decisions, front offices must consider a player's on-court value, his character and the financial ramifications of his contract.
Let's look at the situations of two players who are involved in this process, as well as another player who is safe from cuts but looking to return from an injury.
Ish Smith
The New Orleans Pelicans are absolutely decimated by injuries, especially in their backcourt. Tyreke Evans is recovering from knee surgery, Norris Cole has a high ankle sprain and starting point guard Jrue Holiday is not supposed to be playing more than 15 minutes per game until January.
