The Kevin Durant sweepstakes may be coming to an end.
The Boston Celtics have put on the full-court press in an attempt to get the superstar free agent to sign a contract with them, and there is optimism in the Celtics camp.
On Sunday, the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach, citing a Celtics source, noted the team has its "fingers crossed" over a potential Durant agreement.
CSNNE.com's A. Sherrod Blakely reported the Celtics made a favorable impression on Durant:
While that is far from a commitment, it likely means the Celtics are still in the picture. Boston was a long shot at the start of the free-agency process, but the Celtics were one of six teams to meet with the star.
Durant has also talked with the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post.
On Saturday, Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times reported the Clippers have been told they are no longer in the running for Durant's services.
