NBA Rumors: Is Rudy Fernandez Still Being Targeted By the New York Knicks?

Recently, Carmelo Anthony has been dominating all of the news regarding the New York Knicks trade rumors.

However, on Wednesday morning, Frank Isola of the NY Daily News reported that the Knicks are still working on a deal for Portland Trailblazers' shooting guard Rudy Fernandez.

Nevertheless, it makes sense as this news comes on the heels of a few recent developments in this ongoing saga.

Recently, the discussion between Rudy, his agent, and the media has just become sad, as Fernandez's situation in Portland has depressed him to the point where he may no longer want to even play in the NBA.

And then last week there was the revelation that New York general manager Donnie Walsh has negotiated a potential deal to acquire a first round draft for use in a trade for Melo.

This is crucial because, in the past, the Knicks lack of such a tradable pick had been their biggest obstacle in talks for Fernandez. 

Yet, as Isola also pointed out, any move for the Spanish guard would heavily depend upon the preseason progress of New York forward Wilson Chandler, especially due to his May arrest for marijuana possession and ...
