NBA News: Boston Celtics Hire Lawrence Frank

Awaiting confirmation, Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com is reporting that the Boston Celtics will hire former New Jersey Nets head coach, Lawrence Frank, as their new assistant coach.

Boston lost their former assistant coach, Tom Thibodeau, to the Chicago Bulls, where he will now run the team.

Frank spent his career coaching the New Jersey Nets until he was fired last year after opening the season losing 16 in a row. He has a career record of 225-241.

This is a brilliant move.

Thibodeau is a defensive guru (even ask LeBron), while Frank is a game-planner. The  veteran players on Boston's roster are going to welcome Frank's ability to break down film and game plan, and they'll use it to their advantage.

Boston has found a great replacement for Thibodeau, although they aren't nearly the same coaches.

But coaching only goes as far as how well the team performs. So we'll just have to wait and see in how Boston performs this year.
