Indiana Pacers Center Roy Hibbert has gotten off to an excellent start this season, creating much buzz around the league as one of the most improved players in the NBA. But recently, Hibbert has lost some confidence, and now will see some further help.
Hibbert told the Indianapolis Star, "Going to talk to somebody is not perceived as a bad thing anymore. Other players have done it, and the way things have gone, it has taken a toll on me."
Hibbert will see a sports psychologist when the Pacers return to Indianapolis from their two-game road trip, which ends in Philadelphia on Tuesday. He has begun to see a larger role with this organization, and as he struggles, the team will struggle.
The fact that Hibbert wants to see help and fix any problems that may occur should be a sign of the future of this young man as a pro. He's in his third year in the NBA, is averaging 13.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.82 BPG, and 2.5 APG, and he still wants to get better.
When asked if his recent struggles were mental, by the Star, Hibbert replied saying, "It is mental. I need to keep working to get through this."
