Has anyone enjoyed the last week?

The hourly LeBron James uninformative “updates.”

The rumor mill of possible Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh landing spots. 

The rampant speculation based upon unnamed sources and Twitter tweets. 

The knee-jerk over-paying of second and third tier players.

Does anyone find this fun?

Don’t get me wrong…I understand how this came to be. The system is designed to allow a week like the one we’re having. The media thrives on the opportunity to express theories that will later, if consistent with the outcomes, be hailed as “scoops.” And the fan base, with its fantasy sports mentality and craving for off-season news, has eaten it up like candy.

But is any of this good for the game?

Do you like LeBron James more or less than you did a week ago? I’d say he has come across as an egomaniac. The “King of Akron,” indeed.

I don’t begrudge these players their right to earn as much money as the market will pay them, and to take their time in deciding where they wish to play for the next ...
