NBA Free Agency: It’s Time for Dwyane Wade to Call Chicago Home Again

Last week, basketball fans were led to believe that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade would make an announcement concerning their playing careers by July 5. That day has come and gone. Now it seems that no announcement will be made by either man until Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest.

Entering the free agent process, most felt Wade was a mortal lock to remain in Miami, while most felt James would end up anywhere but Cleveland. Now it appears James' most likely move is to return to Cleveland, but Wade's final destination seems up for more debate.

Miami has done a wonderful job freeing up enough money for Wade and two other big-name free agents. However, with Joe Johnson and Amar'e Stoudemire agreeing to new contracts, that's two potential key members of Miami's plan off the table.

Chris Bosh could still sign with the Heat, but he doesn't seem interested in signing for anything but the max contract. The Heat and Raptors could arrange a sign-and-trade deal, but that would leave Miami without Michael Beasley. Although Beasley may not be a star yet, he's too talented to give up—no matter what the return may be.
