The early hours of NBA free agency have witnessed a handful of interesting developments that figure to have an impact on the future of LeBron James and the rest of the star-studded class. As the daybreak rapidly approaches on the East Coast, five NBA teams are getting ready to meet with James somewhere in the Akron, Ohio, area. One of those teams, the Los Angeles Clippers, proudly issued a statement early Thursday morning proclaiming its pursuit of James. The biggest news of the evening was undoubtedly James’ desire to make his decision by July 5. Although no deal can officially be consummated until July 7 as part of the NBA’s free agent moratorium, reports indicate that a decision will be made by early next week. The waiting game might not be very long after all. Elsewhere, reports indicate that Miami Heat president Pat Riley has flown to Los Angeles to meet with a trio of free agents. It’s never too early to start looking ahead.
