Joe Johnson didn’t have a memorable ending to the 2009-2010 season, with a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the Orlando Magic and fans booing him off the court. While he did not showcase his ability to be a team’s main threat this postseason, he has shown his ability to be an elite scorer in the NBA during his five years with the Atlanta Hawks. Johnson brought the Hawks from the gutters of the NBA to one of the NBA’s best teams with a 53-29 record this season. In each of his five seasons with the Hawks, Atlanta improved each and every year. Unfortunately, the clock seems to have struck midnight for Atlanta and Johnson right as the team appeared to be ready to take the next step. The aforementioned knockout by the Magic has derailed the Hawks train just as it was getting started. While Johnson may not be one of the top-tier players in the NBA, he is nipping at their heels and can certainly make for a very solid one-two punch with any of the superstar free agents.
