NBA Draft: Wizards Get No. 1, Four Lottery Teams Who Need It

Wow! The Washington Wizards win the No. 1 draft choice in June’s 2010 NBA Draft. And the look on Mikhail Prokhorov’s face, priceless. Could this be a sign of misfortunes to come with the Nets under the regime of Prokohorov? Who knows? The Wizards are back in the NBA’s spotlight and it doesn’t involve guns or the trading away of Antawn Jamison for next-to-nothing. What will the Wizards do? Gilbert Arenas will make his return to the team next season, giving the Wizards a pretty good point guard. But, is John Wall too good to pass up, even if you already have a player at his position that is as talented as Arenas? The Wizards could look to completely start their franchise over by drafting Wall and then trading away Arenas for a marquee player. However, the Wizards owner has already committed to welcoming back and supporting Arenas as a member of their squad. This was before they got the No. 1 overall pick. The decision to keep Arenas could be reconsidered now. Also, just because the Wizards have won the No. 1 overall pick, does not mean they will be the team picking first in June. Much can happen between now and then, and the Wizards could work ...
