The NBA draft is about new beginnings, possibilities and hope for the down trodden. It's a time for the leagues bottom-feeders to pick from the cream of the available crop. It's time to find the new "next". Lost in all the hoopla is the very real danger the draft poses to the veteran that's hanging on to his job by a thread. We celebrate the new blood each year. We read the mock drafts, we hope our team picks wisely, we look forward to seeing how the new kid integrates with his new squad. All the while the ten year veteran is wondering if his minutes will drop next year. For every in, there is an out. For every addition, there is a subtraction. There are plenty of articles about the new blood, I thought it was time to shine the spotlight on the old blood. The NBA veteran who has paid his dues, worked hard to get to where he is, but now sees the end of the line in the horizon in the form of a hotshot college kid. These aren't players that won't be on their respective team next year, just ones who will likely see a diminished role. Hard place to be, but you can't stop new blood.Begin Slideshow
