NBA Draft Expert’s Notebook: Breaking Down Potential Trades on Draft Night

This is that time of year when trade rumors come flying at you left and right. Some are probably true, others probably aren't—but they're out there.  

And all of the ones we've heard so far at least sound somewhat plausible.

Let's tackle each of the major rumored proposals that are floating around and break down their pros and cons.



ESPN's Jeff Goodman and Chad Ford reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers might be interested in acquiring the No. 4 pick, the No. 12 pick and Arron Afflalo from Orlando in exchange for No. 1. 

The Cavaliers would ultimately have to give up another player or two to match salaries. Jarrett Jack would make sense. 

For Cleveland, this deal means passing on the chance at getting Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker to potentially land an injured Joel Embiid, or power forwards Noah Vonleh, Aaron Gordon or Julius Randle, and then pair him with another prospect at No. 12, with shooters like Doug McDermott, Nik Stauskas, Gary Harris and Rodney Hood, as well as big man Jusuf Nurkic, as all possible options.
