Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are the two best players on the Western Conference's best team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder beat Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic Thursday night, led by Durant's 36 points and Westbrook's triple double.

The Thunder have gone from a 20-win team to a true championship contender in a year and a half, and Durant and Westbrook are the reasons why.

Durant is an unbelievable scorer and became the NBA's youngest scoring champion ever last season, narrowly beating LeBron James. Durant is the becoming the runaway MVP of the league, even if Chicago's Derrick Rose is having a spectacular season himself.

Westbrook is an amazing talent and possesses a vast amount of skill for a point guard. His rebounding skills are superb for a guard, and his scoring ability is among the league's best among guards as well.

Both of these players are effective because they complement each other's skills so well. Durant and Westbrook can both score in volumes without touching the ball every possession, even if Westbrook has the ball a lot as the point guard.
