Anthony Davis had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Quincy Pondexter scored 18 points and the New Orleans Pelicans outlasted the Milwaukee Bucks, 85-84, at the Smoothie King Center Tuesday night, grabbing sole possession of the Western Conference's No. 8 seed.

This was an odd game, to say the least.

The Pelicans jumped out to a 15-0 lead, as it took the Bucks nearly six minutes to register their first points. However, Milwaukee ended the half on a 44-27 run and took a 44-42 lead into the locker room.

New Orleans came out firing once again in the third quarter, starting with a 14-3 run to take a 56-47 edge, but Jason Kidd's ballclub responded once again, going on a 9-0 run to tie the contest at 56.

The two teams went back and forth the rest of the way, all leading up to Ersan Ilyasova rimming out on a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Both squads shot under 40 percent from the floor, with the Bucks shooting 37 percent and the Pelicans hitting on 35 percent of their field-goal attempts.
