Mike Conley Injury: Updates on Grizzlies Star’s Achilles and Return

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is dealing with an Achilles injury.

Conley to Miss Wednesday's Game Wednesday, Jan. 6 Memphis Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said Conley would not play against the Oklahoma City Thunder, per Randy Renner of NBA.com, while Royce Young of ESPN.com confirmed it is an Achilles injury bothering the point guard.  

Conley is one of the emotional leaders on the Grizzlies, and they can ill afford to lose him for significant time in the loaded Western Conference.

He averaged 15.8 points, 5.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game last season for the Grizzlies, but his impact went beyond the stat sheet. He was the stabilizing force and facilitator in the offense that relied on feeding the low post with Zach Randolph and the high post with Marc Gasol. Conley also hounded the opposing team’s point guard as a suffocating defender on a nightly basis.

Health is a concern with Conley, though, since he missed time in the 2015 postseason with a facial fracture. Thus far, he has remained healthy in 36 games this season and is averaging 15.1 poi ...
