First comes the report from SI.com saying that Cleveland Cavs head coach Mike Brown has been fired. But wait, not so fast, says Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert.
It begs the question: Is LeBron pulling the strings from behind the scenes or at least being involved in the ultimate decision?
Shortly after the published SI report, Gilbert had this to say, according to ESPN.com :
"That's not true," he said during a news conference. "We are right now just going through the evaluation process."
So, is this a sign that LeBron needs to give his blessing or is it simply a case of a reporter jumping to conclusions?
Either way, we know how badly the Cavs want to entice James into staying. So it would make sense that if King James wants Brown out, it's the least they could do.
Likewise, if James heard the report and called the owner and said, "Hey, wait a minute," you can bet they would wait that minute.
Brown was the NBA Coach of the Year last season, but following their season-ending loss to the Celtics on Thursday, it was widely assumed that Brown would be replaced.
