His Royal Airness has spoken.
At a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe this weekend, Michael Jordan was quoted as saying that if he found himself in a similar free agency situation, he would not have formed his own Super-Team, as Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh did this summer.
"In hindsight now I would have never called up Larry (Bird), called up Magic (Johnson) - 'Hey let's get together and play on one team,'" Jordan stated. "In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."
Although Jordan played with high caliber players including Larry Bird and Magic Johnson on the Dream Team in 1992, he called it a different situation.
"When you look at the Dream Team, they were on my team. It wasn't too much of a competitive thing. I'm a competitive guy and I like to play against competitive players," Jordan stated.
Jordan commented that the NBA and free agency have changed from when he played.
"Things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. That's the the opportunity these kids have today."
