Michael Beasley Trade: Timberwolves Fans Should Be Ecstatic

Apparently the second time around was the charm for the Minnesota Timberwolves. After trying to originally trade up in the 2008 draft to acquire Michael Beasley, they finally landed him early Friday morning in a deal with Miami. A deal that was essentially Beasley for nothing at all. Actually it was a second round pick in next year's draft and a swapping of future first round picks. In Michael Beasley, the Minnesota Timberwolves get the most versatile player in the 2008 NBA draft. Beasley hasn't lived up to the hype that was his billing after he left Kansas State after one season. At Kansas State, in 31 minutes of play, he averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the field. He was a 19-year-old freshman. As a NBA pro he's basically done half of that with in 27 minutes of play. His career numbers thus far are 14 points and six rebounds per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field.
